Pisciottano secures $99K grant to fight blight in Glassport

(Dec 02, 2021)

DRAVOSBURG, Dec. 2 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano announced today that the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded a $99,500 grant to Glassport for a borough-wide demolition project to fight blight. Pisciottano worked closely with DCED and Glassport elected officials to identify sources of additional funding for their crucial revitalization projects. “Glassport is embarking on an ambitious revitalization of its community and one of the most important steps in that project is to clear out vacant and poorly maintained abandoned properties to make them more attractive for future investment,” Pisciottano said. “These properties are detrimental to the community’s aesthetic and financial values and pose a safety hazard if not properly maintained. I commend the leadership of Glassport elected officials in pursuing this type of funding and look forward to it being used to the benefit of the whole community.” Pisciottano said the grant money will be used for engineering, bidding, asbestos abatement, demolition and site restoration for a number of commercial and residential properties throughout Glassport. Official presentment of the grant funding will occur at the Glassport Borough council meeting on Dec. 21. Read more

Pisciottano announces $710,000 in state funding to boost transportation and recreational projects

(Nov 22, 2021)

DRAVOSBURG, Nov. 22 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today the Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded more than $710,000 in grants to transportation and recreational projects in Glassport, South Park Township, West Mifflin and Baldwin. House unanimously passes bill to increase monthly pension amounts for some of Pennsylvania’s veterans

(Nov 12, 2021)

HARRISBURG, Nov. 10 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced the Pennsylvania House of Representatives has unanimously passed H.B. 1220 , legislation to increase the monthly pension amounts for the Blind and the Amputee and Paralyzed Veterans Pension programs. “Our veterans deserve our continued support and after more than 20 years, it is time to increase these monthly pension payments,” said Pisciottano, who co-authored this bill with state Rep. Jim Gregory, R-Blair. House Bill 1220 would increase the monthly pension payments from $150 to $250 a month and that number would automatically increase with inflation. These two veterans’ pension programs have not seen any increases since 1999. “These veterans served and sacrificed so much for our country and they deserve whatever additional support we can give them now,” Pisciottano said. During the 2019-20 fiscal year, the Blind Veterans Pension Program helped 102 veterans here in Pennsylvania and the Amputee and Paralyzed Veterans Pension Program served 2,008 veterans. House Bill 1220 has passed the House and now goes to the Senate for consideration. EDITORS/ASSIGNMENT DESKS: Video of Rep. Pisciottano’s remarks on the House floor are available here . Read more
