BALDWIN, Dec. 15 – Law enforcement agencies in West Mifflin and Baldwin have been awarded $290,000 through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, state Rep. JEFFERSON HILLS, Dec. 14 – In a huge boost to area workforce development efforts, the Steel Center for Career and Technical Education will receive a $4 million state grant to fund infrastructure upgrades at the facility, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today alongside a bipartisan group of local and state officials at a press conference held at the school. “This investment serves as a major catalyst for local job opportunities, as well as our regional economy overall,” said Pisciottano. “Providing public schools with proper resources is essential in preparing our next generation of workers. WEST MIFFLIN, Nov. 16 – State grants totaling $270,000 have been awarded to support four local infrastructure upgrades, state Rep. BALDWIN, Nov. 3 – An adamant supporter of Allegheny County public schools, state Rep. HARRISBURG, Oct. 31 – As a longtime proponent of health care access and affordability, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, voted to support a bipartisan bill that will help families and doctors by expanding health insurance pre-authorization for patients. “This bill is a win for patients and their doctors because it will remove barriers and make sure people can access the essential medical care they need,” Pisciottano said. “This bill was a true bi-partisan effort, one which brought together not just lawmakers, but doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. GLASSPORT, Oct. 28 – Grants totaling more than $112,000 have been awarded to local law enforcement and fire companies, state Rep. PLEASANT HILLS, Oct. 26 – A grant of $2 million has been awarded to Pleasant Hills for construction of a new borough building, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help bring investments like these back to our community,” Pisciottano said. “This new building will benefit the borough for many years to come, especially local law enforcement.” Pisciottano specified that the funded project will involve the construction of a new municipal building, plus necessary equipment purchases for the facility. OHIO TOWNSHIP, Oct. 5 – The interchange located on I-279 at Camp Horne Road has officially been renamed the Scott F. Hirsh Memorial Interchange, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today. “Scott was taken from us far too soon, and it’s disappointing that the individual responsible for his death will never be held accountable,” Pisciottano said at today’s dedication ceremony. “While we can’t bring Scott back, I’m extremely proud that we were able to honor his legacy and make meaningful changes to the law to ensure that distracted drivers in the future are held accountable. Scott's legacy will continue to save lives across the Commonwealth every day, just as he did in life as a registered nurse.” Pisciottano thanked Hirsh’s surviving family for their perseverance in pursuing legislative changes, crediting them as a major factor in the creation of Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law , which went into effect in April of 2021. WEST MIFFLIN, Sept. 27 – The Mon Valley Unemployed Committee will receive $396,080 in grants from the state Department of Labor & Industry to help local workers navigate the state unemployment compensation system, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today. “The unemployment crisis caused by the pandemic revealed some major problems with our unemployment compensation system,” said Pisciottano. “I’m very pleased to see direct action at the community level to help unemployed individuals get the assistance they need in a more timely fashion.” Pisciottano added that the funds driven to the MVUC will expand outreach to those most in need of assistance across the region, especially for those in low-income communities with limited access or familiarity with technology and individuals with disabilities.
