The report outlines the environmental benefits and cost savings of replacing the state’s fleet of gasoline and diesel light-duty vehicles with electric vehicles. “The budget increases funding for public education by $714 million, including more than $67.6 million in Basic Education and Special Education funding for schools that serve students in the 82nd Legislative District, an increase of over $5.1 million or 8.1%,” Takac said. “With these historic investments, we are beginning to address the inequities in Pennsylvania’s school funding system, which the Commonwealth Court recently declared unconstitutional. This funding helps public schools without raising property taxes and placing the burden on local residents. However, we must continue to work to meet our constitutional obligation to fairly and fully fund our public schools so that every child has the opportunity to succeed.” Read more

In addition, caucus members this week sent a letter to Gov. Josh Shapiro highlighting their priorities for the 2023-24 legislative session ahead of the governor’s 2023 budget address.
